What we found out!
That the temperature in the classroom is hotter than outside.
We need to keep it 18- 20 degrees in the classroom to have our brain switched on not switched off when we are learning. That means someone needs to be responsible for opening windows and turning heaters off when the temperature in the classroom gets too hot.
It’s hotter in the middle of the day because of the position of the sun in our sky. It is directly above us.
Normally the temperature in the shade is 1 degree colder than the temperature in the sun and the temperature in classroom is 4-5 degrees hotter than the shade.

The thermometers were put in certain places like up in the tree where it’s shady, on the volleyball net in the sun and on the wall in the classroom not beside the window.
Conclusion:
The position we need to put the shade cloth in is both in the sunny area and a little bit in the shaded area outside our classroom because in the morning the temperature is going to be colder than at midday.
We need to find out what colour we need for the shade cloth to reduce the temperature. Some colours reflect the sun light and some colours absorb the sunlight.
Temperature Experiment
We deserve the shade - cloths because we have done a lot of research to get them and our class is too small to fit thirty of us in for all the activities we like to do. Some of the activities we like to do are things like drama and podcasting, which require more space than we have in our classroom.
The research we have done was recorded on line graphs and a data table.
There were three places where we recorded the temperature. They were in the shade, the sun and our classroom.
Mrs Burton came and spoke to our class about melanoma (skin cancer) and the dangers of ultraviolet light. She also taught us about how light can bounce off things, even the ground, clouds and buildings. We also learned about the different types of skin cancer. There are three types of skin cancer including melanoma. We really need these shade cloths so we reduce the risk of getting skin cancer when we’re older.

These are the temperatures that were the highest, average and lowest.
The highest in the sun was 26 degrees. It is very dangerous to be in the sun without shade and lots of people forget their sun hats. It is also important to remember that sun hats only protect our faces and our necks.
It’s very important that we have these shade cloths.
