Speeches

We are writing speeches in class at present. We were able to choose our own topic. Here is Abby's

Bullying

You're walking down the corridor, just minding your own business. Then suddenly, someone sticks their foot out and trips you. You fall to the ground. The next second, you look up, to see everyone is around you. Laughing. Pointing. Making fun of you. Would you cry? Would you run-away? People have to face this every-day.

I want you to freeze for a second and think, what do you think your type of bully would look like.......... Are they big? Strong? Scary? Smelly? Does he have small blue beady eyes? Maybe she has a fierce witch’s grin on her mouth. Well a bully would normally look like your everyday person you would see down the street.

Have you ever been bullied? What is bulliyng? There are many definitions for bullying but! Bullying is when the bully has an advantage, when it is ongoing and it has to be hurtful behaviour. There are lots of different types of bullying such as: Verbal bullying, Physical bullying, and Cyber bullying, indirect bullying, Social alienation and Intimidation.

Verbal bullying is mostly what girls tend to do. People comment about how they look, what they wear or where they come from. 46.5% of all bullying at school is verbal type.

Physical bullying is something that includes contact or when you can injure someone such as: kicking, pushing punching ect. Also taking something that doesn’t belong to you and ruining it. In Junior High Schools, 30.5% of all bullying is physical.

Cyber bullying is on internet and cell phones, Face book, twitter, e-mails, voice-mail, messages and texting. Nearly 42% of teens have been bullied online and 1 in 4 have had it happened to them more than once. With this percentage being ignored and disrepected has to be the most common type of cyber bullying.

How do the victims feel? They may feel it is their fault for being bullied: For example, they might think they are weak and do not have good friendships. They may think of themselves as failures and
not decent enough of being helped by others. Afraid that they might get hurt even more seriously after asking for help from others. Afraid that their parents and teachers might blame them for not standing up for themselves.

Some victims feel misable and they are too scared to stand up to the bullies so they decide to commit sucicide.

Here is a story about a girl who got bullyed. A 14-year-old girl in Canada was bullied all the time by three girls in her class. The girls even called her on the telephone to bully her. She was afraid to stand up to them and never told anyone about the situation. She was miserable and didn't want to be bullied again, so she committed suicide.

We need to help the victims of bullying, we can do this by standing up for them, taking advantage over the bully. If you are a victim of bullying don’t be afraid tell some one, if they don’t litsen tell them again until they listen. Tell your parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, teachers, friends Mums, even the police. Don’t stop until someone listens! Try to take advantage from the bully: Get lots of people around you! If you get cyber bullied you could change your username, profile or block them.

Verbal. Phyiscal no matter what type its horrible and it needs to come to a end! Take my advice and it will stop!
