Myths

In Room 9 we have been learning about myths from all around the world.

Each culture has a different creation myth and it explains how that culture thinks the world began.

We have been learning how to write a myth of our own.

These are the ones that we have written:
1. How the moon formed
2. How trees got their leaves
3. Why snails and turtles are so slow.

Myths have special things in them.
There are the characteristics of this kind of writing.
A myth has things like
1. magic
2. problem
3. solution
4. explaination at the end.

Orca & Penguin

“Yum yum” said Orca “Oh no” said Penguin. Penguin needed to get to the other side of Antarctica, but swimming between the Penguin and Antarctica was the scariest of all of the Antarctica animals the huge famous Orca. He had killed up to twenty eight Penguins and this Penguin didn’t want to be number twenty nine. So the Penguin tried to out smart the Orca.

First he tried to make the Orca confused by looking at the he sun, so the Orca couldn’t see him. After about ten minutes the penguin did a burst to the other side of Antarctica. He made it but only just.


While the penguin was at south Antarctica the penguin was thinking how he would get back to north Antarctica.


He went back into the water and he saw something black in the distance. Not again it is the Orca. The Orca comes and it jumps but the Penguin was too fast and swims under the water. The smart Penguin that could have got killed twice, was so relieved because he was not dead and that he will live for many more years.


The Orca couldn’t get anything to eat that week and starved to death. Now the Penguins swim to south and north Antarctica all the time because of the famous Penguin. Now the Penguin that is as smart as brain box made the Orca that was as dumb as a rock, starve.


And that is why Penguin’s are as smart as a brain box and Orcas are as dumb as a rock.
