Healthy Eating!
In
Room 9 we have been learning about the Olympics and what the athletes have to eat to keep healthy. One afternoon
Mr’s O’Connor came and talked to us about what food you have to eat to keep
healthy and fit.
We
learned that to keep fit and healthy you can eat all kinds of food but it’s how
much you eat of each type of food that makes it healthy or unhealthy.
If
you eat pies every day and always have chips, deep fried food, fizzy all the
time you might end up looking like a bus!!
If
you eat those little packets of chips every day for 2 months you will put on
2.6kg of fat. If you eat solid fat all the time the fat will build up around
your heart and it glugs up your blood vessels. It is important to drink water as
your body use it to produce blood.
If
you always eat only one type of food you might not get enough protein and sugar
to keep you going. You need to have a balanced diet. You also need to eat
enough food to give you the energy you need. Did you know? If you ate a banana
to burn off the energy you would have to jog for 15 minutes. If you ate a pie
you would have to jog for an hour to burn of the energy it gives you.
