LITTER IS NOT OK !
Rubbish, it’s bad is it not? Well it is and we do it don’t deny it. It can kill animals in the sea and on land. The plastic can choke the sea animals and the land animals like native birds can get tangled up in glad-rap and suffocate.

Now let’s talk about compost its good for the gardens soil and plants around it. Most compost is made out of banana peels, orange peels, and some food scraps. Some people keep their compost bin outside their kitchen window so then they can just drop it out the window.

At the dump they have to compose the litter. Here are some examples of how long rubbish can take to decompose:

Paper-2.5 months
Orange peel - 6 months
Milk carton – 5 years
Cigarette butt-10-12 years
Plastic bag -10-20 years
Disposable diaper-75 years
Tin can-100 years
Beer can-200-500 years
Styrofoam – Never (immortal)

Wow that’s a lot of time!
