Ecosystem


In our Inquiry we have been learning about Ecosystems and what is in an ecosystem?

One thing we learned about is a food web. A food web is a group of different types of things: trees,leaves little bugs and also big bugs. If one thing got removed from the food web it would affect the ecosystem that the food web was in.


Another thing we learned about is a food chain. An food chain id like an energy chain. A food change begins with energy from the sun. Next comes a producer, they
makes their own food. Plants are producers. After that come the consumer. Consumers are animals that eat other animals or plants, they can not make their
own food.




Now we are going to tell you some plants we found we found at Thomson's Bush:
Matai
Astelia
Darwins berry
Makomako
Chilean flame creeper
Old mans beard
Cabbage tree
Moss
Flax
Matature tree
Weed
Hammered pattern tree



We also saw some of the birds. They were:
Tui
Wood pigeon
Starlings
Bell bird
Black bird
We are pretty sure that there were way more birds there but they were the only birds
we saw there. We also heard some of the bird calls of the birds we saw.




The things we discovered were:
1.How an ecosystem can change.
2.What a food web is.
3. What some of the plant names mean(some of them are pretty confusing)
4. What lived in the river and what it is called.
